Having a baby

Many people think traveling has to be expensive, especially with a family. Obviously there are some costs involved, but there are also things you can do to easily minimise the costs. If you’re hoping to head away soon or just in the planning stages of your next family vacation, I hope these tips can help you for reducing costs on your next family vacation.

1. Compare Prices With Travel Agents
For the most part I find it less expensive to plan my own trips as it’s easy to find everything online from accommodation right through to flights. However, sometimes travel agents have incredible flight prices that are hard to beat. They’re also a good option for busy people who don’t have the time or experience to sit down planning every little detail. If you are considering working with an agent, I suggest looking at what kind of packages are available. You might be surprised by how affordable it can be.

2. Consider Airbnb
I personally love staying in Airbnbs because you usually find yourself in a more local neighborhood, instead of being in a super touristic area where everything is more expensive. If you have a car, or are using the public transport system, it doesn’t matter if you’re a little further out and you can save hundreds off your accommodation costs. The savings by using Airbnb really add up when you’re traveling as a family as you can get more rooms for the same price as perhaps the cost of one hotel room. I also love using a house’s facilities when traveling, such as being able to do the kid’s laundry or cook for them a few times to save on overall costs. You might even fancy buying your own place if you fall in love, check out these beautiful properties: https://www.bettermcrbahamas.com/eng/sales/lyford-cay-np-bhs.

3. Be Flexible With Your Dates
If you can have some flexibility in your dates, you can save a lot of money. Most people tend to want to travel during the peak holiday seasons, which are obviously a lot more expensive and also more crowded, this means longer wait times for everything, as well as more competition for everything from hotel rooms right through to restaurant reservations. If you can travel outside the usual holiday season you’ll save a lot of money and get some exceptional value.

4. Consider Staying Close to Home
You don’t have to travel far to have a wonderful family vacation – what about the option of a road trip? If you have some camp grounds nearby, that can be a really fun recipe for a family vacation the children are bound to remember. You might even know some friends who live an hour or two away, that might be open to doing a house swap for a cheap family vacation for both families. If you cut down on travel expenses, then you’ll be able to spend more on fun activities with your children, and they’re much more likely to remember what you did, rather than where you stayed.
