Moving can be a real pain, it’s a long and exhausting process that can be extremely emotional. While there’s often a ton of excitement about moving to a new place, starting a new life somewhere new and so on, there’s also a ton of work that goes on behind the scenes in order to make a move happen. Whether this is your first move or you’re a bit of an expert, I have a few tips that might make your move easier.

1. Work With Professionals
Working with professionals can save you a lot of trouble. If you’re being relocated by your work, then there’s a good chance they might contribute towards the cost of moving. If they do, please take them up on this offer! The cost of relocating things across the country or overseas can be surprisingly expensive, especially if you have some larger pieces of furniture. Hiring professional movers means not only will your items be properly packaged, but they will also do the bulk of the work so you can focus on the emotional and logistical aspects of moving. 2. Take Your Valuables With You
If you have anything that’s completely irreplaceable or small and likely to be lost in the moving process, I suggest taking them with you personally. That way you know where they are at all times and also can give them the due care they deserve. While moving companies will try their best to ensure all your things arrive in perfect condition, do to the logistics of moving bigger items it will be harder for them to achieve that. If you have beautiful jewellery, like these stunning bracelets, then I would definitely suggest taking them with you on person.

3. Plan Ahead
Moving isn’t something that you can easily do without any forward planning. You’re going to have to arrange new accommodation, plan the logistics of what you will take with you, how you’ll get it there and also figure out how you’ll get to your new city or country. I would suggest having as much time as possible to plan your move as you can afford, to allow you to break everything down and do it in small pieces rather than rushing to make it happen all at once. If you’re moving overseas you might also need to apply for a visa which is often a large process requiring a ton of documentation.

4. Ask For Help
If you’re trying to handle a move all by yourself, don’t please! Ask your friends and family for help. You can buy a few boxes of beer and order pizza in exchange for help with transport or help packing everything up. There’s absolutely no reason to do it alone, but be warned you might get a phone call in a few months asking you to return the favour!
